Catherrine Le SAUNIER – Conductor – cellist – teacher

An accomplished musician, Chaterine Le Saunier holds a master’s degree in choral conducting from the Université de Sherbrooke, as well as diplomas in music education from UQAM and in cello performance from the Conservatoire de musique de Québec.

Her work experience covers a very broad spectrum as a performer: cellist and backing vocalist with Chloé Sainte-Marie for the Maudit silence tour; cellist, percussionist and/or backing vocalist at Jeunesse musicales Canada and on stage with Chloé Sainte-Marie, Sarah McLachlan, Diane Tell, Andrea Lindsay, Patrick Waston and others.

She is also artistic director and conductor of the Chœur de la Montagne in Beloeil and the Harmonie vocale in St-Hyacinthe. She is founder and conductor of the Chœur du Moment, a group invited to perform studio sessions for soundtracks, multimedia projections and other one-off events.

As a teacher, she teaches cello-jazz at Cegep de St-Laurent in Montreal and is a lecturer in cello-pop at UQAM.

She has lent her services on numerous occasions, as guest conductor (Canadian Vocal Arts Institute – Alliance chorale du Québec), judge for provincial competitions (MusicFest Québec – Festival des harmonies et orchestres symphoniques de Sherbrooke), guest conductor or choral conducting instructor.

In the past, she has worked as a coordinator, responsible for special projects at Camp musical St-Alexandre; as a tour director, she accompanied the Robert Shcuman Choir in 2008 in several European countries as well as on American soil.
