Bénédicte DÉCARY – actress

Bénédicte Décary made a name for herself as soon as she graduated from the Conservatoire d’art dramatique de Montréal in 2002, and has since enjoyed an admirable career in theater, film and television.

She quickly made her mark on the theatre scene, appearing in L’alchimiste, Doldrum Bay, Edmond Dante, Filles de guerres lasses, Le comte de Monte Cristo and Les zurbains, among others. In 2006, she won the Prix de la relève Olivier Reichenbach for her role as Angélique in Le malade imaginaire, directed by Carl Béchard at the Théâtre du Nouveau Monde. She has also appeared in Théâtre sans animaux, La dame aux camélias, Britannicus Now, Le mariage de Figaro, Dentelle et Diesel and Et Vian! Dans la gueule.

In 2011, she performed on two of Montreal’s biggest stages: at the TNM in La belle et la bête, directed by Michel Lemieux and Victor Pilon, and at the Théâtre Jean-Duceppe in Dans l’ombre d’Hemingway, directed by Stéphane Brulotte. She also stood out in Michel Monty’s Le misanthrope, Serge Denoncourt’s Les trois mousquetaires and Alain Zouvi’s Le jeu de l’amour et du hasard. In 2018, she played Madeleine in Sophie Clément’s Les fées ont soif, which went on tour in 2019. In 2024, she won the Prix Gascon-Roux for Best Actress for her performance in Lysis.

At the same time, she played notable roles on TV5’s Le négociateur 1 et 2, Un monde à part 1 et 2, Durham County, Les boys, Les beaux malaises and En thérapie, the Quebec adaptation of the famous Israeli series Be Tipul. Bénédicte also had recurring roles in the series 30 vies and L’Échappée. Her talent for comedy was noticed in the series Entre deux draps, which earned her numerous nominations and an award for Best Performance: Comedy at the Gémeaux Awards Gala.

Her film credits include Philippe Gagnon’s 1er juillet, Michel Poulette’s Histoire de famille, François Bouvier’s Maman Last Call, Jean-Philippe Duval’s Dédé à travers les brumes, Robin Aubert’s À l’origine d’un cri, Yves Pelletier’s Le baiser du barbu and Xavier Dolan’s Les amours imaginaires. In 2016, she played in Trip à trois by Nicolas Monette and Dérive by David Uloth.

In 2024, the public could to see her again on Radio-Canada television, where she joined the cast of the daily STAT. They will also be able to follow her in the documentary series L’appel de la forêt, broadcast on TV5 in 2025.
