Liselyn ADAMS – The entire range from classic to modern
After studying music at the New England Conservatory of Music at Boston University and the Royal Conservatory in the Netherlands, Liselyn Adams moved to Canada in 1979 and joined the Studio de musique ancienne de Montréal, the Ensemble Carl Philipp, and the group Les Nations de Montréal. Performing on both the baroque and modern flute, she has given solo recitals in several North American cities.
She is one of the founders of the Blue Rider Ensemble, which has premiered numerous works by Canadian and American composers, including works for instrumental theater composed and created collectively by the Ensemble. The uniqueness of their approach has attracted several Quebec artists, such as poet Michel Garneau and choreographer David Earle, among others, who have created pieces or participated in performances and improvisations and received rave reviews.
Liselyn Adams was a professor at Concordia University from 1980 to 2017 and has since pursued her career as a soloist and chamber musician. Originally from the United States, she has lived in the Eastern Townships at the top of a mountain near Ayer’s Cliff for several decades. From there, she travels and performs in concert in many places around the world, mainly in Canada and the United States.
In recent years, she has participated in a telematic improvisation event in the Exit Points series; she has also performed Hendrik Bouman’s chamber music on baroque instruments in Belflou, France, during an exhibition by artist Margrethe Ulvik.
She is also the co-founder of Duo Effusion with flutist Tammy Lynn Déry. Together, they offered an intimate concert on November 2, 2024 as part of Arts-Cultures Massawippi’s Soirées 3 pour 1 at Auberge La Raveaudière in North Hatley.

Tammy Lynn DÉRY
Tammy Lynn Déry studied under Guy Pelletier at Concordia University, where she earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree with a specialization in performance (2005) and a graduate diploma in performance (2007).
Throughout her career, she has had the opportunity to study with renowned artists in the field of music, such as Marie-Andrée Benny, Denis Bluteau, Robert Cram, Jacinthe Forand, Heather Howes, Robert Langevin, Peter Lloyd, Alexa Still, Jean-Philippe Tanguay, and Ransom Wilson.
Tammy Lynn Déry has been absent from the music scene for a few years, having chosen to devote her time and energy to her growing family. More recently, however, she has participated in several projects, including the Symphonie de la virée, an orchestra participating in the Virée Classique, an event organized by the Montreal Symphony Orchestra, in 2018, 2019, 2022, and 2023.
Tammy Lynn Déry is a founding member of Trio Ascendance, a flute, clarinet, and piano trio from Montreal, which was formed in 2022. She was also a member of Les flûtes du Richelieu, a flute quintet from Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu, until 2023. She has since joined forces with renowned flutist Liselyn Adams to explore and interpret the chamber music repertoire in a new way, influenced by historical and contemporary performance practices, as well as to collaborate with artists from different genres on larger-scale projects.
