Vincent DUBOST – engraver artist

Vincent DUBOST – uses various engraving techniques to express the themes important to him

Vincent DUBOST has lived in the Township of Hatley for over thirty years, where he has spent most of his professional career.

Trained in drawing in 2017 by Anne-Marie Auclair, he quickly incorporated acrylic and then oil painting into his approach. Between 2019 and 2023, he attended workshops led by Chantal Touchette and Richard Arsenault, as well as those led by Geoffroy Degache at the Atelier de la Ruelle in the French village where he lives for several months each year. From 2019 to 2020, he regularly participated in life drawing workshops organized by France Gionet (Vacances Art Nature). At the same time, he refined his skills through targeted training with Lucie Michel, Sylvain Loisant, and Jean-Marc Péladeau.

Today, figuration and abstraction interact and coexist naturally in his work.

Long fascinated by printmaking, in 2023, thanks to Deborah Davis, he discovered various techniques such as linocut and engraving on Plexiglas.

Printmaking is now at the heart of his work. He continues his training with renowned artists and artisans, including Paule Mainguy (notably the printer of Louis-Pierre Bougie’s works), Matthieu Coulanges (manufacturer of engraving tools in France), and Michel Dupont (collagraph specialist). Since 2022, Vincent Dubost has been exhibiting regularly: Maison des arts et de la culture de Brompton (2022-2025), Église d’Amblagnieu in France (2023), Circuit des arts de Coaticook (2023, 2025), Boutique d’Arts visuels de Sherbrooke (2023), Ateliers Dufferin (2023), Sherbrooke Museum of Fine Arts, Espace Dialogue gallery (2023), Rendez-vous d’Howard (2024), Grande Virée Artistique de Sherbrooke (2024-2025), Coaticook Hospital Center (since 2024), Coaticook Volunteer Center (2025), among others.

In November 2025, he presented his first solo exhibition at the Françoise-Dunn Cultural and Community Center (Jacques-Cartier Arts and Culture Committee) in Sherbrooke. The exhibition, featuring some twenty engravings, offers a reflection on memory, recollections, and forgetting, exploring both memories of trips to Indonesia and Italy and family memories linked to photos taken by his grandfather during World War I.

Among his projects for 2026 are a second solo exhibition at the Coaticook library, participation in the Mini Print Internacional in Cadaqués (Spain), and the Miniprint Exchange in Asolo, Italy.
