Tomàs JENSEN – Argentinian author-composer-performer
A prolific artist with eclectic influences
Born in Argentina, having lived in Brazil and France before settling in Quebec, Tomàs JENSEN has released 12 albums, including 4 with “les faux-monnayeurs” (with whom he founded the Coop Les Faux-Monnayeurs in the early 2000s), and Quelqu’un d’autre (2008, GSI musique), his first solo album.
His move to L-A be in 2010 marked the start of a fruitful collaboration: 5 albums (including two ADISQ nominations), a film and numerous shows followed. After Hombre (2010), Face à Face B (tribute to Caetano Veloso) (2012) and Plus personne (2013), Tomàs Jensen returns to Argentina in 2015, for the first time in 20 years, to record Retour. Documentary filmmaker Martin Bourgault accompanies him, producing a film that will be screened at FIFA and other documentary festivals around the world.
March 2020 saw the release of Les rêves sont faits, his first album as arranger and producer, which bears the hallmark of his cultural diversity and artistic freedom. Nominated at GAMIQ in the Folk Album of the Year category.
Since then, Tomàs Jensen has been preparing and participating in a number of projects, including the production of a documentary web series on Chic Chicas, Los Pacos, Karèya, Avril Jensen, Yohann Francoz and a solo album of original bossa nova compositions, as well as the production of all the videos for his latest album.
As a member of Arts-Cultures Massawippi, he met author-actor Robert Lalonde and joined the Cosse-tu penses mon p’tit bonhomme project.
